Actor Justin Long is finally opening up on his engagement to actress Kate Bosworth.
Rumors that the two were involved began last March when they were seen getting together in Los Angeles. The two then traveled to New York City and shared some PDA in Hawaii before confirming their relationship.
The “Blue Crush” actress sparked engagement rumors at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party when fans thought they spotted an engagement ring on that finger. It looks like the rumors are true, as the two discussed the “Accepted” actor’s “organic” proposal on Tuesday’s episode of his podcast, “Life is Short With Justin Long.”
Justin Long ‘Spilled’ Romantic Proposal To Kate Bosworth After A Deep Therapy Session
In Tuesday’s episode of his podcast “Life is Short With Justin Long” (transcribed by Page Six), the “Jeepers Creepers” actor revealed that he had planned something big around her birthday in January. However, the proposal “spilled out” in an “organic” way after a therapy session.
“I did have a special thing planned around [Kate’s] birthday and about a month before that, life, like we were talking about, things change, and sometimes they change pretty drastically without any warnings,” Justin said while talking to Kate on the podcast.
“It was a moment where it just felt so organic and it felt connected to something very, very deeply, profoundly personal that we were going through, like, a real-life change, and so it came out in a very organic way,” he added.
Justin said that the two had been going to therapy because they had been going through “this really hard thing,” which might have been Kate’s divorce from director Michael Polish, who she was married to from 2013 to 2021. The divorce was only finalized last month, seemingly after the two had already become engaged.
“[The therapist] gave us a really great piece of advice which was: ‘Make sure that you’re pretty consistently asking the other what you need, or asking the other what they need,’” Kate explained, saying that she later asked Justin what he needed when the two were in private.
“And he, like, really looked at me and he said, ‘To spend my life with you,’ and I smiled and I said, ‘Well, yeah, you have that. Oh my gosh, you have that,’ and he said, ‘No, I mean I really want to spend my life with you,’” she recalled, with the couple noting that the “organic” proposal just “spilled out.”
Kate Bosworth Is Reportedly ‘On Cloud Nine’ After Engagement News
A week after “The Horse Whisperer” actress had finalized her divorce, PEOPLE reported that Justin had in fact proposed to Kate roughly a year after they first took their relationship public.
A source told the magazine that “Kate is just on cloud nine,” adding, “She is showing off her engagement ring to friends. She is being coy about details, but she is beaming.” The insider went on to say, “Everyone is happy for her” and her friends think that “Justin is a great guy. He adores her. It’s amazing to see them together.”
A separate source told the magazine that she “can’t wait” to call him her husband. “Kate is just the happiest. Justin is an amazing guy,” the insider divulged. “She can’t wait to marry him. They are very cute together. Kate has this amazing energy around Justin. She is just beaming.”
No wedding plans have been set yet, but fans and famous friends can see how in love the couple is. On January 2, the actor took to Instagram to share a gushing tribute for her 40th birthday that began by calling her the “best part of my day, every day.”
He detailed many of the things that he loved about her, writing, ““She laughs with abandon. She makes me laugh the same – all the time. She sees beauty everywhere and in everyone. She thanks everyone – even when she’s suffering, she’s kind.”
“She is the most beautiful human being I’ve ever seen. She is purely good. She will stand up to anyone who isn’t. She has true integrity and grit. She has, by far, my favorite smile,” he went on, calling her “my joy” and “my best friend.”
No wedding plans have been announced at this time.
