Dua Lipa is beginning to branch out and be more than a pop star, as Warner Bros. announced today that the 27-year-old British bombshell will be making her feature film debut in Barbie as one of the titular dolls.
The reveal of Lipa’s inclusion in the film comes as the studio released a bevy of posters and a new trailer for the Greta Gerwig-helmed project, which features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles of Barbie and Ken, respectively.
Alongside Robbie, Gosling, and Lipa is an ensemble cast that features the likes of Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman and Kate McKinnon.
In addition to Barbie, Lipa is also set to appear in the Matthew Vaughn-directed spy-thriller Aryglle alongside Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Rob Delaney, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, and Samuel L. Jackson.

With over 87 million followers on Instagram (at the time of this writing), Lipa has become one of the biggest pop stars in the world in recent years thanks to songs such as “One Kiss”, “Electricity”, “Don’t Start Now”, and “Levitating.”
Lipa has clearly made a concerted effort to branch out to businesses other than music as her fame and profile have increased — in addition to acting, she also launched the weekly lifestyle newsletter and podcast Service95 back in 2021.
Barbie will hit theaters in the United States on Friday, July 21.
