HBO has released the first trailer for season four of their hit series Succession, which will return to the Network on Sunday, March 26.
The below teaser — the first look that the network has provided at the new batch of episodes — picks right up where the finale of season three, which aired in late 2021, left off.
Here’s the official synopsis for Season 4 of Succession, via HBO:
The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.
The familial division mentioned in the synopsis stems from the season three finale, which saw Logan Roy renegotiate his divorce agreement with his ex-wife Caroline, therefore effectively depriving the trio of Kendall, Shiv, and Roman control of Waystar Royco.
Created and written by Jesse Armstong, Succession first premiered back in 2018 and has since become one of HBO’s flagship series, as its viewership has grown with each passing season. This year, Succession will be picking up the baton from The Last of Us, which is set to conclude its behemoth first season on March 12 (or March 19 if they don’t air an episode on Super Bowl Sunday).
The latest season of Succession will see the core cast of Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nicholas Braun all return.
Additional stars this season include Alexander Skarsgård, Cherry Jones, Hope Davis, Justin Kirk, Stephen Root, J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Dagmara Domińczyk, Arian Moayed, Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Juliana Canfield, and Jeannie Berlin.
